Paan Stains On London Streets Viral Video: Imagine walking through a clean London street and spotting bright red spit stains on the pavement and dustbins. That’s exactly what a recent viral video captured, and it has left many people angry and disgusted. The video, shot in Harrow, a borough in London, shows paan stains splattered outside shops and on the roads, especially around Rayners Lane and North Harrow. Locals say these ugly stains are now a common sight, mostly outside stores and takeaway joints that sell chewing tobacco products.
What Are These Stains Exactly?
These are paan stains, the reddish marks left after someone spits out chewed paan or gutka. In India, they’re seen everywhere from walls to staircases. But seeing them in London? That’s what’s making people angry.
Because gutka is heavily linked to Indian habits and London has a large Indian migrant population, many social media users have blamed Indians for this mess. One user even commented, “Indians doing their thing”, a line that has sparked even more debate online.
Is Gutka Allowed in the UK?
Yes, it is. Chewing tobacco, like gutka, isn’t banned in the UK. But stores selling it must be registered with HMRC and follow strict rules. Still, while the product is legal, spitting in public isn’t tolerated, and people are now calling for action.

The video shared on Instagram by the username 'Harrow Online', just a day ago, garnered 263k views from people. The post is captioned, "Paan spitting is becoming a big problem in Harrow – with stains spreading from Rayners Lane to North Harrow. Residents are calling for more action."
"The paan shop needs to take some responsibility for selling this tobacco," a user wrote. "Disappointed that Harrow council is not doing more to stop this disgusting behaviour, increase the fine. Allow local residents to report these culprits," a second user wrote. "Talk about painting the town red. Literally," a third user wrote. "It’s disgusting and causes mouth cancer, so it puts more strain on the already overstretched NHS,"vadded a fourth user.
"It's a big, big problem here in India, too. Our residential building elevators, staircases, and common areas all have pan stains. We can't deport such people as they are citizens, but you guys should just deport these people. Don't let them spoil your country," wrote another user. "If I were Thanos, I would erase all the people who eat Paan and Gutka and spit on roads," added another user.
