Viral Video: Love street food? A hot plate of momos might be hard to resist, but a recent viral video from Punjab may change your mind. Captured during a raid in Mohali’s Mattaur area, the footage exposes filthy conditions inside a momo-making facility that supplies vendors across the city.

In the viral video, workers are seen washing up in the same alley leading to the cooking area. Inside, gas cylinders sit near dirty utensils, while buckets of momos lie uncovered. A frying pan full of oil is left out in the open, attracting flies, and large vessels of schezwan sauce are swarming with insects.

In another shocking scene, a man sleeps beside uncovered jars of oil, and crates of spring rolls are dumped on the floor. Freezers packed with raw chicken and piles of rotting cabbage add to the horror, raising serious concerns about hygiene. The video has left food lovers disgusted, making many rethink their love for street momos.

Watch The Viral Video:

The viral video was posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by user '@Gagan4344.' The caption warned, " If you eat Momos and Spring Rolls from street food vendors in Mohali, make sure to watch this video! Visuals from Mataur and Mohali show locals raiding a place where momos and spring rolls were being prepared. These items were being supplied to various fast food stalls across Mohali." Shared just a day ago, the video has already racked up 621K views, sparking concerns among social media users.

In the comment section, users expressed their concerns over the shocking footage. One person questioned, "Why do people eat outside? Home-cooked food is hygienic and nourishing." Another user reacted with disbelief, saying, "If this is how they're made, imagine what you're actually eating." A third user criticized the hygiene standards, stating, "If you care about sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety, you should avoid eating street food in India. Aise hi hum world famous nahi hai gandgi ke liye."

"Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness is very expensive. Most street-side food stall owners are poor and cannot afford the rents of commercial kitchens or all the equipment, infra, and trained workers needed. It is a highly competitive business sector due to the high level of unemployment," added a fourth user. "Even big restaurant kitchens are like that, better eat food at home," added another user.
