For someone who aspired to ace a career in the field of fitness and become an influencer in the same, achieving a perfectly healthy body was one of the top priorities. Beatriz Amma, a fitness influencer with a love for travelling and bikinis, faced the hardest challenge of her 23 years of life two years ago when one of her decisions turned horribly wrong. With the aim to get a flawlessly fit body, Amma spent approximately Rs 66,000 on a treatment in a spa in Los Angeles, according to the reports. The treatment involved injections containing a mix of vitamin B1 and C along with ‘fast-dissolving’ deoxycholic acid, which was reportedly injected into her body 60 times. The spa, according to the influencer, reeked of cleanliness and professionalism, which further encouraged her to go ahead with the treatment. “An employee assured me it was produced by a highly reputable company and even displayed the vials to me. I was thrilled,” Amma was quoted as saying to Kennedy News. However, the decision soon turned into a nightmare after the influencer started facing major issues with the treatment. Her body reportedly developed ‘welts’ on her skin as it began to ‘eat itself’. "I developed welts on my skin, and they began appearing in the areas where the injections had been administered... My entire body seemed to be self-destructing,” she was further quoted as saying to Kennedy News.
After her checkup, the influencer was diagnosed with ‘bleak-Mycobacterium abscessus’, which is a bacterial infection that causes skin lesions. According to the reports, improper deoxycholic acid injections were credited behind the issue. She began getting the required treatment for her condition, but the journey became increasingly painful not only physically but also mentally. Amma was informed about her condition being ‘indefinite’, which also shattered her dreams and her love for wearing bikinis. Along with mental stress, she also endured immense physical pain. “I couldn't even dress myself. I required assistance to use the restroom, shower, and change. I felt like I was deteriorating in bed,” she was quoted as saying. “I prayed to God and said, 'If this is my time, take me.' My body had reached its limit,” she was further quoted as saying.
Currently, the influencer is in her third year of getting the treatment that requires her to get six hours of ‘intravenous antibiotic treatments’ on a daily basis. Taking to her social media she also updates her followers about her journey and every improved step that she takes. “I'm now in the third year of this journey, and it's far from concluded. I never would have imagined that something as seemingly straightforward could nearly claim my life and leave me still grappling for survival,” she was quoted as saying.
