Mumbai Girl Viral Video: What was supposed to be a regular trip to Delhi turned into a nightmare for Mumbai-based woman Ruchika Lohiya, who faced not one but two disturbing encounters with cab drivers. Sharing her experience on Instagram, she called it “one of the most traumatic” moments of her life, sparking fresh outrage over women’s safety in the capital. Ruchika’s troubles began right after landing at Delhi Airport. She booked a Rapido ride to Noida, but when she politely asked the driver to switch on the air conditioning, he bluntly replied, “It will be turned on at my will. If you need AC that badly, book another cab.” Shocked by the response, she approached the Rapido help desk, where the staff behaved politely, but she decided to cancel and book an Uber instead.

Her second ride started normally, but things took a dark turn. While on the way, Ruchika dozed off for a short while. When she opened her eyes, she noticed the driver pointing his phone in her direction. At first, she assumed he was watching one of her Instagram videos, but soon realised he was actually recording her.

Alarmed, she quickly messaged her sister, sharing the cab details. Her sister urged her to get out immediately. Thinking on her feet, Ruchika pretended she needed to meet a friend, grabbed her suitcase, stepped out, and ran towards a busy area before booking another ride.

Companies Respond:

Both Rapido and Uber reacted to the viral post. Rapido apologised, saying, “We apologise for the trouble caused on your recent ride. This is not the kind of service we aim to provide. Kindly share your registered mobile number and ride ID via DM so that we can assist you further.”

Uber also released a statement: “Hi Ruchika, this is extremely concerning to hear. Uber takes rider safety very seriously, so we’d like to look into this. Please DM us your Uber account and trip details so we can further investigate.”

Social Media Reaction:

"Girls DO NOT DO NOT NEVER EVER SLEEP IN A CAB! Maut hi kyu naajayelekinsona mat coffepio call krokisi ko nahi h koi to imaginary bf se bateinkro “pretend” kyuki unfortunately it's not safe for us anywhere," a user wrote. "I have studied, lived & worked in Delhi NCR; whether it was 20 years ago or to date, it is the most unsafe city for women in the world," a second user wrote.

"A surveillance camera should be kept in each such cabs and live video data should be accessible to the nearest police station and a common data center. The camera should detect any alarming behavior of the driver and alarm immediately at the police station. Any tempering of the camera should also alert the police station and should make the vehicle immovable. So many entrepreneurs in India, right? Can anyone please take this up?" added a third user.
