Parliament Special Session: Marking a new dawn in Indian political history, the Parliamentarians will take seats in the new Parliament building today, September 19, and the country is here to welcome the big event. As the Parliament Special Session continued on its second day, prominent political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and other Parliament members, bid an emotional goodbye to the old Parliament building as they posed for a group photo in front of the historic structure. From today, the Parliament Special Session will be held in the new building, which will be known as the ‘Parliament House of India’. Taking to the internet, netizens along with the political leader shared their take on the historic event. From celebratory reactions to political leaders sharing selfies with their assigned seats at the old building, the internet was flooded with the posts. 

The new Parliament building was inaugurated by PM Modi in May, while the Parliament Special Session is reportedly scheduled to hold discussions and approvals of eight bills. Out of these eight bills, the historic women's reservation bill has reportedly been approved by the Cabinet. The Special Session will continue till September 22.  

Taking to the internet, netizens along with prominent politicians shared their excitement over the new Parliament building. Some political leaders also shared an emotional farewell to the old building. Most people also shared videos of political leaders posing for the group photo that was taken outside the old Parliament building.

“Picture this. MPs across parties arrive for first ever session in new parliament building!” added another netizen. 

“Lok Sabha Secretariat issues gazette notification, designating the new Parliament building as the Parliament House of India,” said another user. 

“Old & New #Parliament in one frame,” said a fourth. 

“My seat is 90 in the #RajyaSabha till 18th September 2023. Panoramic view of the Rajya Sabha Chamber : सदन with beautiful old carved wooden benches & panels,” read a fifth post.
