Darjeeling Viral Video: A shocking video from Darjeeling has taken the internet by storm and it’s all about a lesson in cleanliness that some tourists badly needed. The clip shows a local man standing up against a group of visitors from Bihar after they shamelessly threw garbage, including a used diaper, out of their car at a scenic spot. The video, shared on Reddit’s page r/IndianCivicFails with the title “Man confronts tourists from Bihar, for littering in Darjeeling”, quickly caught people’s attention.
In the footage, the local man can be seen rushing towards the car as soon as he spots the trash being thrown out. Holding his phone, he starts recording and firmly says, “You threw a diaper here, pick it up.” Instead of admitting their mistake, the car’s driver casually argues that the area was already dirty. But the man doesn’t back down. He replies, “Leave that. We clean this place a lot. Pick up the diaper.” After a brief argument, one of the tourists steps out and picks up the soiled diaper.
While taking note of the car’s number plate, the local asks, “Where are you from? Oh, you are from Bihar.” He then adds, “Please pick up the trash. Don’t do like this. If others have littered, will you do it too?” The situation escalates when the driver challenges him to post the video online. Unfazed, the man responds, “See, this is how people from Bihar are. They should have thrown the child’s diaper in the dustbin but are littering outside.”

The short video has since sparked a big discussion on civic sense and how tourists often disrespect the places they visit. Many online users praised the local man for standing up and reminding everyone that keeping public places clean is everyone’s duty, not just the locals.
"I think indian schools should include a massive book on civic sense," a user wrote. "I am a Bihari, and it is the sad truth. We really lack civic sense. The reason why Bihar is not developed is not just because of the govt., but also the people. I really hope that someday, Bihar can actually live up to its potential, trust me, we can really make a difference (positively)!" a second user wrote.
"Zero empathy, zero civic sense. Just pure disregard for others and our surroundings… sadly, nothing new in India," wrote a third user. "There should be a Visa or some eligibility criteria to visit such clean places," added a fourth user.
