Gurugram Viral Video: Highlighting the issues of ‘unemployment’ and its ‘adverse effects’ leading to the ‘youth acting immaturely’, a Haryana incident recently went viral on social media. Reportedly, 3 to 4 young men ended up vandalising a tea shop over a petty issue involving mere Rs 9. The shopkeeper, working at the tea shop reportedly located at Gurugram’s Old Delhi Road, pointed out about the ‘payment’ being less by Rs 9, that was done by the vandalisers. The simple confrontation, out of nowhere, led to major chaos instead, as the accused damaged the shop and also threw some chairs behind the paying counter. The entire incident was recorded on the shop’s CCTV camera, the footage of which went viral.

As soon as the video began to circulate on the internet, people started reacting, where most blamed ‘unemployment’ behind the young’s behaviour. The rest chastised the vandalisers.  The incident, as per the CCTV footage’s timings, took place on March 02.

The video was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘shafquath’. The post was captioned, “A disturbing incident of vandalism unfolded in a tea shop in #Gurugram, #Haryana, allegedly triggered by a billing dispute of ₹9. According to reports, a group of men caused havoc in the shop after the shopkeeper objected to receiving ₹9 less than the bill amount.”

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “This is the situation of unemployment!!  Everyone's faces are clearly visible, strict legal action is needed against them, only then will sanity prevail,” a user said. “Tell me you’re worthless to society. Without telling me you are worthless to society,” said a second person. “Noticed how those 3 girls escaped without paying,” pointed out a third user.

“It's normal in Gurugram that most people over there are always ready to fight for small things,” said a fourth person. “New India New Norm. Unemployed yet emboldened,” wrote a fifth user. “The unemployment issue is because of students/people themselves, not because of the government, you didn't study properly, you got no skills, how do you expect someone to give you a job? 90 per cent it's the fault of youth that they aren't employed because they won't work for it,” said another.
