Swedish Tourist Viral Video: A shocking travel story from Delhi is going viral after a Swedish tourist claimed he was left all alone in the middle of the road during an Uber ride, just because he didn’t agree to pay Rs 5,000 in cash. Jonas, a traveller from Sweden and a content creator exploring India, shared the experience in a viral Instagram video. He said his Uber Intercity trip began normally, but soon things turned strange. The driver suddenly pulled over, saying the car had broken down. Then came the surprise, the driver allegedly asked Jonas to pay Rs 5,000 for repairs. Jonas didn’t agree. And instead of finding a solution, the driver reportedly left him stranded, that too in Delhi’s scorching 45-degree heat, right on a busy road.
What made it worse was what happened next. Jonas wrote, “They sorted me out with not one, not two, but three replacement rides, all cancelled on me. I assume, as I was on the highway.” Despite calling Uber for help, no ride reached him. In the end, he had to find his own way home. After his video started gaining attention, Uber India apologised, commenting: “Hi Jonas, we apologise for this frustrating experience. Our specialised team has investigated and taken appropriate action.”
The video has gone viral and has now sparked anger online, with many questioning rider safety and support during emergencies, especially for tourists visiting the country.

The video shared by Jonas on his official Instagram account 'iamjonasax' four days ago received 2.6 million views from social media users. One user wrote, "Next time, please don't hesitate to record them and post it online. They are not only a problem for foreigners but the locals." "So sorry, Sir. We Indians are also facing this situation with these online taxi apps," a second user added. "Use Rapido. As a long-term Uber user. Uber is losing the game in India. Fares once accepted can't be cancelled. Also, they don't charge commission; instead, they go for a subscription model," added a third user.
"Taxi drivers in India, by and large, have no integrity. There are some decent ones and some heroes in the mix, too, who will help you without fail in case of emergencies," a fourth user wrote. "No action will ever be taken by Uber. I had raised several complaints against their drivers for misbehaviour and misconduct, but they are ready with their bot response and post that no action will be taken against that driver. Sometimes I feel the driver and @uber_india are partnering to trouble the customers only," added a fifth user.
"Once had an Uber driver smoke inside the car. When we politely asked him to stop, he pulled over in the middle of a busy highway and told us to get out. Absolutely shocking and dangerous behavior. @uber_india seriously needs to fix this, drivers seem to operate on their own terms with zero regard for rules or passenger safety. Hands down the worst Uber service in the world is in India," a sixth user added. "This is one of the reasons why I have uninstalled Uber from my phone. They have absolutely the worst drivers and services, that's why I go for the alternatives, such as InDrive and Rapido. They are much better compared to Uber. Never had a single problem with them," added another user.
