Mahatma Gandhi Image On Beer Cans Viral Video: A surprising controversy has erupted after a viral video showed two Indian men inspecting beer cans from the Russian brand Rewort—featuring none other than Mahatma Gandhi’s image and signature. The unexpected pairing of the iconic leader with an alcoholic beverage has sparked outrage, with many calling it deeply disrespectful. Social media is buzzing with criticism, demanding action against the brand for misusing Gandhi’s likeness.

In the viral video, the person filming can be heard saying, "Ye beer bech rahe hain Mahatma Gandhi ke naam ki, hum currency leke ghoom rahe hain." (They are selling beer in Mahatma Gandhi’s name, while we carry currency with his image.) The remark highlights the irony of using Gandhi’s likeness on an alcoholic product, sparking widespread outrage and debate on social media.

This isn’t the first time Mahatma Gandhi’s image has been controversially used on alcoholic products. In 2019, an Israeli company faced backlash for featuring his image on liquor bottles and later apologized to the Indian government. That same year, Czech brewery Pivovar Chric had to rebrand its Mahatma India Pale Ale after protests from an Indian NGO. About a decade ago, a U.S.-based company also sparked outrage for using Gandhi’s face on beer cans and bottles, ultimately issuing an apology after a petition was filed in a Hyderabad court.

The viral video shared on X (Formerly Twitter) by the user @gemsofbabus_ page, quickly grabbed attention online. Within just a few hours, it sparked strong reactions from Indian social media users, with many expressing outrage over the use of Mahatma Gandhi’s image on a beer can.

Social media users had mixed reactions to the controversy. One user demanded action, writing, "India should report it. This is not right to use popular figures for their own advertisement." Another reacted sarcastically, "Yes, let's all get offended real soon. Let's cancel Russia and Britain." A third user suggested legal action, saying, "We should file a case against them in the International Court of Justice, get them banned, talk about them in Parliament, and do prime-time debates. We should boycott these countries." Meanwhile, another user pointed out the irony, stating, "India has a Dry Day on October 2nd. The Gandhi family can even claim royalty for this."
