Viral Video: A simple in-flight moment has turned into a social media storm after US filmmaker and journalist Adam Ellick shared a video capturing a common yet often debated scenario on Indian flights—passengers eager to disembark before the seatbelt sign is off. In the short clip, which he captioned “Textbook landing in India for the first time,” Ellick films travelers swiftly rising from their seats and reaching for their bags the moment the plane touches down.

Flight attendants can be heard making multiple announcements, politely urging passengers to remain seated for safety reasons. Despite initial resistance, they eventually comply after several reminders. What seemed like an everyday occurrence to some has now triggered an online debate. While a section of the internet found humour in the situation and acknowledged the habit as a cultural norm, others were quick to call out Ellick for his sweeping generalisation.

US filmmaker Adam Ellick posted the viral clip on his official Instagram account, @adamellick, with the caption, "Classic landing in India." Shared just a day ago, the video has already racked up over 60.7K views, sparking widespread discussion among social media users.

In the comment section, reactions poured in with divided opinions. One user pointed out a gender disparity in the situation, writing, "Hard to ignore the fact that the magic male voice was immediately successful while multiple requests in the female voice went completely unheard. Being an Indian woman, I find this very unsettling." Another commenter countered the cultural generalisation, stating, "You haven't been to Germany then. It has nothing to do with race. Even Italians do. Indian society is very competitive... Coming from NYC, you should understand it better."

Meanwhile, a third user expressed frustration over the incident, remarking, "Lack of civic sense, selfishness—this country is filled with such legends." A fourth user wrote, "Shame on you all. Don’t fly if you can’t pay attention to the commands and instructions given by the onboard crew. We need more such videos to shame them until they reach their friends and family." Another user simply stated, "This is embarrassing," echoing the sentiments of many who found the situation frustrating.
