Viral Video: It’s only getting alarming at the rate at which social media has been witnessing the number of pickpocket-related instances that are happening all over the country. From public transport like buses, trains and metro to places like railway stations and markets, cases of pickpockets have been coming forward one after the other. Adding another to the list, an instance came forward that left people cautious of even helping others. A man asked for lift from a bike rider in Chandigarh, to which the biker ended up helping the poor man, only to get robbed by the supposed ‘man in need’. Turns out, the man was a pickpocket, who stole the wallet of the biker.
As soon as the biker realised what happened, he began to confront him, a video of which was shared online. The biker, for obvious reasons, resorted to violence once he recovered his wallet from the pickpocket. The date of the incident could not be confirmed.
As the clip went viral, it began to draw reactions. Most people chastised the pickpocket, while the rest felt like the beating was necessary and justified. Many also raised concerns over the increasing number of such cases.
The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘Ghar ke kalesh’. The post was captioned, “Kalesh over this Pick-Pocketer asked for Lift and steal the purse of the guy who helped him in Chandigarh Pun.”

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “With that kind of respect, he should think twice before getting on to the bike in the future,” a user said. “Even thieves are wearing Adidas these days,” joked a second person. “Aaj kl kisi pe bhi vishwas nahi krna chahiye bhai (One should not trust anyone these days),” added another.
“That’s why I keep on checking my purse after giving a lift to a stranger,” commented a fourth user. “This is how criminals need to be treated. Zero tolerance for crime” added a fifth user. “First of all why give a lift to unknown persons?” added a sixth user. “He deserved every kick, thanks,” added a seventh user.
