Viral Video: With Christmas 2023 long weekend came a long line of vehicles that jammed the Manali highway. Tourists flooded the most loved destination as soon as the weekend began and it resulted in massive traffic jams all over Himachal Pradesh, especially on the Lahaul to Manali route. The photos of the roads packed with vehicles have also gone viral on the internet.

While most of the tourists were stuck in the jam, a man came up with an idea to beat the traffic. A video is going viral on the internet in which a man can be seen driving a Mahindra Thar SUV through the Chandra River in Lahaul Valley. Since the water level was low, he had no problem driving through the river and beat the traffic.

While the man could easily drive the Mahindra Thar SUV through the Chandra River, it could have been fatal and not encouraged. Soon after the video went viral, police issued a challan to the driver.

SP Mayank Chaudhry said, "Recently, a video went viral in which a Thar is crossing the river Chandra in District Lahaul Spiti. The said vehicle has been challenged under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and to ensure that no one commits such an offence in the future, the district police have deployed police personnel at the said place."

Reacting to the video, a Twitter user said, "Outrageous scene near Sissu in Himachal as a tourist brazenly drives into the Chandra river, displaying a shocking disregard for the fragile ecosystem. To all visitors: these areas aren't a playground for your antics! Urgent call to @himachalpolice and the government to crack down on such flagrant disrespect. Nature demands respect, not ruckus!" Another user said, "His car should be impounded. No mercy should be shown.."
