UP Viral Video: Some villagers in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj took a grievous matter in their one hand- quite literally- after the Forest Department allegedly failed to take action over a ‘repeated complaint’. Reportedly, the said villagers managed to capture a leopard with their bare hands, as they seemingly had no help from the Forest Department. The decision to catch the big cat without any equipment came after the leopard scare continued to increase in the village. A video of some villagers holding the spotted beauty with bare hands was shared online, which quickly went viral. As per the post, the Forest Department only reached the spot to handle the matter after they were informed about the capturing of the leopard. The incident reportedly unfolded in Nautanwa, but the date could not be confirmed.

The video pulled multiple reactions after getting shared. Most people expressed their disagreement over the manner the villagers went for the wild big cat, while the rest hailed the courage of the villagers. Many also expressed their concerns for the well-being and safety of the animal and humans.

The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘WeUttarPradesh’. The post was captioned, “There was an atmosphere of fear among the villagers due to the activities of the leopard in Lalpur village of Nautanwa tehsil of Maharajganj district. The anger of the villagers increased as no concrete action was taken despite informing the forest department. Finally, the angry villagers themselves tried to catch the leopard and after a lot of hard work, they controlled it. The video of this entire incident went viral on social media. On getting information about the incident, the forest department team reached the spot and took necessary action to handle the situation. @UPGovt @UpforestUp.” The video was shared yesterday and pulled 128K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “They are checking him. Yeah, people will call them bagh ka kareja, but think about the leopard. What wrong he has done? Just because he entered the human habitat? Then why are we destroying their habitat?” a user commented. “Looking at its paws, I think he choked Leopard to half-sleep,” added another.

“They probably killed him. 15 against 1 that's how brave these cowards are,” added a second person. “What happened next??? Hope everyone and the leopard is safe as well,” added a third user. “Incredible bravery by the villagers in Maharajganj! Catching a leopard with bare hands is no small feat. Truly astonishing to witness such courage and strength! But I hope along with humans, the animal is also safe,” added another.
