Reddit Viral Post: Dating apps are often seen as a way to meet new people but for one woman, her casual meet-up with a Hinge match turned into a nightmare she never expected. Sharing her story on Reddit, she revealed how a 'spontaneous' plan with a man she had just matched with ended with her belongings stolen. According to her, the man asked her to dress casually and even told her to 'bring a bag.' Though she found the request a little strange, she didn’t think much of it. They met near her college, went on a bike ride, picked up some snacks and later sat on a rooftop chatting. Things seemed normal and they even shared a kiss.
But soon, the situation took a shocking turn. When he suggested getting more snacks, he asked her for her bag, assuring her he would return soon. She recalled jokingly asking, “You’re taking my bag and leaving me here?” to which he replied, “Main chorthodi hu (I’m not a thief).” Before leaving, he even handed back her water bottle, telling her she might need it.
That was the last time she saw him. After half an hour of waiting, she realised he had blocked her everywhere and unmatched her on Hinge. Left stunned and upset, she asked fellow Redditors if such scams were common and whether filing a police complaint would help. She ended her post by hoping someone could track him down and convince him to return her things.

Social Media Reactions:
"I feel like he wasn't there to rob you. I mean, why would someone go to this length for a tote bag and earphones? Plus, it's a well-known fact that students barely carry money with them. I feel like his main chick caught him, or he got some other option and thought right there to ghost you," a user wrote. "This looks like the most realistic scenario, haha," a second user wrote.
"Why would he ask to bring the bag in the first place and then later on disappear with it. If he was caught, he could have left the bag somewhere and texted her about it, and then blocked her," wrote a third user. "Bruh, what I'm guessing is, bro's gf wanted a bag. He deployed a master plan for this. Baaki, rest assured, it wasn't your fault, so don't feel bad. Nobody could've seen it coming," wrote another user.
