World Hindi Day 2024: On the outside, the day might look like a regular one to many, but if taken a look from the ‘inside’, today’s date- 10 January- is quite a significant one due to all the important historical events that took place on this day in the Indian and world history. From major sports events, significant birthdays and deaths to the cinema industry getting some of the most iconic shows and dramas, January 10th has always been quite a ‘busy’ day as far as history goes. World Hindi Day
The first one of the most historic events that is celebrated on 10 January is World Hindi Day. The day is a tribute to one of the most spoken languages in the world. The world and India began to celebrate the day as Hindi Day in 2011.
Lionel Messi
The next event is especially a treat for the fans of the footfall GOAT- Lionel Messi. The player, on 10 January 2011, bagged his second FIFA Ballon d’Or award, making his fans go crazy and celebrate the day like a festival.
TATA Launched Nano
The Indian market went out of control and the middle-class family got a classic option as far as a car is concerned as TATA Motors launched Tata Nano. It was the world's cheapest car, that debuted in 2008. It cost Rs 1 lakh.
United Nations General Assembly
Another event on the list that went down in world history was that the United Nations General Assembly assembled its first session in 1946. It came together in London’s Methodist Central Hall.
Moon Radar Signal
Next up on the list was a first for a Moon-related event. On this day in 1946, the United States Army Signal Corps detected the very first radar signals that were reflecting off the Moon.
Coco Chanel
Next on the list was a sad event for the Fashion industry, as the renowned French fashion designer Coco Chanel died on 10 January 1971. She was the founder of the luxury brand Chanel.
Hrithik Roshan
The Indian cinema is thankful for this day as a major star was born on 10 January 1974; Hrithik Roshan. The actor was born in Mumbai and is one of the most celebrated personalities in the country.
Kalki Koechlin
Another A-list actor who was born on this day, sharing her birthday with Roshan, is Kalki Koechlin.
The Sopranos
Next up on the list was one of the greatest contributions to world cinema; The Sopranos. It was an HBO TV drama that aired in 1999 and starred the iconic naked like James Gandolfini and Edie Falco. It ended on June 10, 2007.
The Greatest Show on Earth
This one was about the world literally getting The Greatest Show on Earth, a documentary in the US. In 1952, the documentary premiered in New York. It was directed by Cecil B. DeMille reportedly made a Box Office earning of USD 36 million.
