Myth 1: Impure Girls

During periods, it is believed that girls and women are impure and hence they should not enter the kitchen and visit the temples. We have to understand that periods are just nature's way of telling you that you are growing.

Myth 2: Sleep All Alone

In India, women and girls having periods should sleep in a separate room and bed and they can't even sit on other’s beds. Menstruation is not a viral disease that will infect other people in the same room.

Myth 3: Don’t touch things

It is believed that girls during periods should not touch or eat sour foods like Pickles, Tamarinds, and curds as they will spoil and the period flow will increase. Let us tell you periods inside the body won’t spoil things and any foods don’t decide the period's flow.

Myth 4: Hide Sanitary Pads

In our developing country, people still say that girls must have privacy during periods and should hide their sanitary pads. But buying sanitary products is for personal hygiene, so why do we need to hide it?

Myth 5: Don’t Exercise

It is said that during periods, women must not do any kind of exercise and physical activity. However, a little exercise and yoga relieve the pain.

Myth 6: Don’t Wash hair

Every girl must have heard that you should not take baths and wash your hair during menstruation. But you don’t need to compromise with personal hygiene and habits. The warm water can help you in easing the menstrual cramps.

Myth 7: Don’t talk about it

It is believed that the women having their periods must not tell others about it. Well, we don’t need to stop ourselves from doing such things. Talking about periods is just normal as we talk about our hair and skin.

Myth 7: Periods Pain Are Normal

Women and girls are always being told that period pains are normal. A big ‘Noo’. Period pain is a condition medically known as dysmenorrhea. It is different for every woman. Around 20% of women face this condition that's severe enough to affect daily life activities.
