The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), also referred to as the Censor Board, is a body that regulates film certification in India before release.
India is the home to one of the largest film industries and millions of cinephiles. According to the CBFC, millions of people watch films every day, either in cinema halls or on the cable system.
In India, filmmakers go beyond boundaries to make blockbuster films. Though a few scenes of a film may appeal to someone, but may be unacceptable to others.
The films are divided into four categories: U for unrestricted, A for adult, S for only special class and U/A for unrestricted but with parents for children under 12 years.
U/A stands for ‘Unrestricted Public Exhibition’ but with parental guidance for children under 12 years. Parental guidance is required as the film may contain inappropriate scenes.
