The India Meteorological Department is checking the data and sensors to confirm if the temperature recorded in Mungeshpur was correct. They are looking into possible errors or local issues that could have affected the reading.
Climate change is making heatwaves more common, longer, and more intense, which is a growing danger to public health, infrastructure, and daily life in cities like Delhi.
The extreme heat can lead to serious health problems, including heat stroke and dehydration. People are advised to stay indoors and drink plenty of water.
