Do you know that there is a river in India that flows underground? Tap to dive in and know its name to boost your general knowledge.
As per the Rigveda and other ancient Indian texts, this river is mentioned a lot of times in the books because it is associated with the goddess of knowledge and wisdom.
As per various theories by geologists and historians, the river was said to have dried up years ago. It was due to climate change and shifting tectonic plates.
The river, which holds much importance in history and religion, is the Saraswati River. Goddess Saraswati is also a religious figure in Hinduism, related to knowledge and music.
The holy river originated from the Himalayas and flows through Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat. It then merges into the Arabian Sea.
According to the National Remote Sensing Centre and geologists, there are paleochannels under the Thar Desert which aligns with the flow of Saraswati River.
Besides this, satellite imagery also proves that there are analyses of ancient water stored below the desert sands. The study proves that it is the only river that flows underground.
