Cocoa is one of the most widely cultivated crops in the world. 70% of the total cocoa production of the world is cultivated in West Africa.
India is in the sixteenth position in the total cocoa production in the world. It produces 19000 tonnes of cocoa per year, which is relatively lower than the other countries.
Andhra Pradesh leads cocoa production in India. It is followed by Kerala. The total cocoa production of Andhra Pradesh and Kerala is 80% of the total production.

Cocoa grows in specific conditions. It requires a temperature between 20-35 degrees Celsius with not more than two months of dry spell and at least 1500-2000 mm rainfall.
