The chemically ripened mangoes have an odd chemical smell, while the real mangoes have a sweet and natural aroma near their stems.
As per Indi Agri, an agricultural platform, the texture of artificial mangoes appears softer than the real ones. This is because the chemical breaks down the cells of the fruit.
Make sure to check the appearance of the mango before buying it. If it has blemishes or any type of spots, this is because of chemical-induced injection.
If you are unable to conduct any of the above tests, you can do a taste test. If it has a strange or unpleasant taste, it is a chemically ripened mango.
If there is a powdery or white substance on the surface of the mango, then it is a calcium-carbide ripened mango. Throw it!
