The award is conferred on people to recognise their ‘distinctive and exceptional’ contribution in any field or discipline. It can be art, literature, sports, education, civil service, etc.
The Ministry has requested people to nominate or recommend exceptional people. They can do nominations through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal.
