Hitler DNA study:A new scientific investigation has revived long-standing rumours about Adolf Hitler’s physical and genetic conditions, with researchers claiming that the Nazi dictator likely suffered from Kallmann Syndrome, a disorder that can cause undescended testicles, extremely low testosterone levels, and a micropenis.
The findings appear in a two-part documentary, “Hitler’s DNA: Blueprint of a Dictator”, scheduled to air this weekend on the UK’s Channel 4. An international team of geneticists and historians analysed DNA taken from a blood-stained piece of material recovered from the sofa on which Hitler is believed to have shot himself in 1945.
DNA Analysis Debunks Claim Of Jewish Ancestry
The study also addresses decades-old speculation that Hitler’s paternal lineage included Jewish ancestry, a rumour centred on claims that Hitler’s grandmother conceived a child while working in a Jewish household.
According to the production team, Y-chromosome tests matched DNA from known male relatives of Hitler. Experts say such a match would have been impossible if his father had been conceived outside the family’s direct male line. Researchers say the genetic evidence “conclusively rules out” the theory.
Kallmann Syndrome May Explain Behavioural Oddities, Experts Say
Historians have long noted Hitler’s awkwardness around women and his reportedly limited intimate relationships. Professor Alex Kay of the University of Potsdam said these behaviours may now be better understood in light of the new findings. “No one has ever really been able to explain Hitler’s extreme discomfort around women,” Kay said. “If he did have Kallmann Syndrome, this could provide an answer that aligns with reports from people who knew him.”
Programme makers Blink Films said the test results showed a “high likelihood” of Kallmann Syndrome and indicated genetic predispositions for autism, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. However, scientists stressed that none of these conditions can explain, let alone justify, Hitler’s decisions, ideology or the atrocities carried out under his command.
‘He Would Have Sent Himself To The Gas Chambers,’ Says Geneticist
Geneticist Turi King, known for identifying the remains of King Richard III, said the findings reveal an irony at the heart of Hitler’s racial ideology. “Hitler’s policies were built around eugenics,” King said. “Had he examined his own DNA under those standards, he almost certainly would have deemed himself unfit.”
She added that the results place Hitler within genetic categories of people whom the Nazis themselves targeted during World War II. Researchers also emphasised that the newly uncovered biological factors do not diminish Hitler’s responsibility for orchestrating one of the darkest chapters in human history.
