After making fun of Sam Altman’s OpenAI, the leading Artificial Intelligence giant company appears to be chasing after OpenAI’s biggest investor, Microsoft. Anthropic has launched ‘cowork and plugins for enterprise’, which is a suite of tools that embed its model Claude directly into everyday applications like Excel, PowerPoint and Slack. With this update, Claude will work like a built-in coworker instead of a separate chatbot. Now the user will not need to copy the output from the chatbot and paste it into Excel, Powerpoint or Slack. Claude will now work as an integrated part of these applications.
Anthropic Challenges Microsoft 365 Copilot
With its latest move, Anthropic attempts to challenge Microsoft’s dominance in enterprise AI. Microsoft is already working in the domain, with its 365 Copilot performing as intergrated part of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, while offering Copilot Studio for custom AI agents.
Besides, OpenAI, Amazon, and Google have also launched similar platforms. OpenAI has launched Frontier, an enterprise platform built on ChatGPT. Google and Amazon have rolled out similar platforms with Gemini and Quick Suite.
What Is Anthropic’s Plugins And Connectors
With the launch of Cowork and Plugins, Anthorpic intends to provide a specialised AI agent for enterprise work like finance, HR, Design and Operations. The plugins are open-source and portable, providing companies with the flexibility to adapt them without being stuck in one ecosystem.
