An Indian national who arrived in Canada as an international student has been arrested in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for allegedly committing multiple sexual assaults. Authorities allege that the suspect targeted young women in their early 20s, exploiting their trust by posing as a rideshare driver.
On the morning of November 8, two women waiting at separate bus stops in Brampton were approached by a man in a black four-door sedan claiming to be a rideshare driver. In the first incident, a woman heading to work accepted a ride near Countryside Drive and Bramalea Road and was later sexually assaulted near Highway 27 and Nashville Road in Vaughan. Shortly after, another woman, waiting near Goreridge Crescent and Via Romano Way to go to school, was similarly approached by the man posing as a rideshare operator, as reported by Global News.
“These were extremely violent and appalling crimes committed against our community,” said Peel Deputy Police Chief Nick Milinovich, noting that the suspect specifically targeted young South Asian women.

Third Victim Reports Assault
On November 16, a third incident was reported involving a young woman waiting at a bus stop in Brampton. She was approached by a man in a newer model four-door sedan posing as a rideshare driver. The woman accepted the ride and was driven to Countryside Drive near Airport Road, where she was sexually assaulted. A similar assault had occurred earlier when another woman was taken to Highway 50, south of Gore Road, after accepting a ride under similar circumstances.
Arshdeep Singh also faces multiple charges, including sexual assault, sexual assault by strangulation, sexual assault with a weapon, three counts of kidnapping, robbery, and uttering threats.
