A small Cessna 172 plane from Vancouver Island was reportedly "hijacked" and entered Vancouver International Airport's airspace, CBS News reported. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) received reports of the incident at 1:10 p.m. PT and responded with air services and police dogs.

Vancouver police reported that by 1:45 p.m., the hijacked Cessna 172 aircraft landed safely, and the sole occupant was taken into custody. The incident led to a temporary disruption of flight operations at Vancouver International Airport, with nine incoming flights diverted and a 30-minute grounding of flights. Airport officials characterised the situation as a "security incident" involving a small private plane from Vancouver Island.
