Donald Trump Inauguration: In an unprecedented turn of events, the inauguration ceremony for Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States will witness the participation of several foreign leaders. This marks the first time in US history that foreign dignitaries will attend the swearing-in ceremony of a president. The list of attendees includes a diverse array of global leaders, underscoring Trump’s emphasis on cultivating international relationships.
According to State Department records since 1874, no foreign leader has attended a US transfer-of-power ceremony. Alongside Trump's international guests, American attendees will include lawmakers, officials, former presidents Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden. Vice President Kamala Harris, who recently ran against Trump in the 2024 presidential election, will also be present.
According to sources close to Trump’s transition team, the decision to invite foreign leaders was made to symbolise a new era of diplomacy and collaboration. "President-elect Trump wants to send a clear message that America is open to dialogue and partnership," said a senior official involved in the planning. "This gesture is meant to reflect his administration’s commitment to working closely with allies and even adversaries to address global challenges."
