Trump Vs Musk: US President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on his former advisor and CEO of Tesla Elon Musk for declaring the creation of a third United States political party. Venting on his social media site Truth Social Sunday, Trump referred to Musk as a "train wreck" who had "gone off the rails" following his proposal to create the 'America Party'. In a strongly worded post, President Trump stated, "I am disappointed to see Elon Musk go totally 'off the rails,' basically becoming a TRAIN WRECK these last five weeks. He even wants to form a Third Political Party, in spite of the fact that they have never been successful in the United States, the system doesn't appear to be for them."

The President threatened that third parties only leave behind "total disruption and chaos," while asserting that Washington already has "enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds!" The fallout comes just days after Trump signed the so-called 'Big Beautiful Bill', a broad tax cut and spending bill that eliminates the Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate, a development that directly hits Tesla's green-energy credits. Trump stated Musk is "mad" because the bill "eliminates the dumb EV Mandate, which would have required everybody to purchase an Electric Car within a short time frame." He also disclosed that Musk had provided his "total and unreserved endorsement" while knowing Trump's position regarding EV mandates.

Musk Strikes Back: 'Never Heard of Truth Social'

Hours later, after Trump's comments, Elon Musk responded on X (formerly Twitter), waving aside Trump's denunciations with a sarcastic, "What's Truth Social? Never heard of it." Musk also came to the defense of his new America Party, saying it would battle to save Americans' freedom and combat both the Republican and Democratic establishments. He attacked Trump's bill, saying it would "bankrupt the country" adding $5 trillion on the national debt. In a follow-up development, Azoria Partners said it would delay listing its Azoria Tesla Convexity ETF, citing an overlap with Musk's new political career. The investment company said the action questioned Musk's dedication as Tesla's CEO.

The altercation represents a drastic rise in tensions between the two erstwhile close allies. Trump threatened to take away billions of dollars of government contracts and subsidies that accrue to Tesla and SpaceX if Musk keeps casting aspersions at the administration. Musk, who donated millions to Trump's 2024 re-election bid and briefly served as an advisor before quitting, has been on a collision course with the President since the contentious spending bill was passed.
