Elon Musk vs Netflix: On Wednesday, Elon Musk urged people on X to cancel their Netflix subscriptions. He even cancelled his own, sharing posts like “Cancel Netflix” and “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids.” This cost Netflix in millions. The stock closed down 2.3 per cent on Wednesday after billionaire called on his followers to cancel their subscriptions to the streaming service.
So why is Musk angry at Netflix?
1. Charlie Kirk Controversy – Musk reacted after Hamish Steele, creator of Netflix’s show Dead End: Paranormal Park, made offensive posts about conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was recently shot dead. Steele called him a “nazi,” and many felt he mocked Kirk’s death.
2. Support From Others – Some users online claimed Netflix supports Steele despite his remarks. One scientist even posted that he cancelled his subscription because Netflix “hires people who mock deaths and push pro-trans content on kids.” Musk replied, “Same,” showing his support.

5. Musk’s Larger Stand – This fight fits into Musk’s long-running campaign against what he calls the “woke mind virus.”
Who was Charlie Kirk?
Kirk, an author, podcast host and close ally of Trump, helped build the Republican Party's support among younger voters. Kirk was the co-founder and president of the conservative student group Turning Point USA and appeared at Utah Valley last month as part of a planned 15-event "American Comeback Tour" of US college campuses. Kirk had been speaking at a debate hosted by Turning Point at Utah Valley University at the time of Wednesday's shooting. He was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced dead hours later.
His killing stirred outrage and denunciations of political violence from Democrats, Republicans and foreign governments.
