Following the recovery of a Starlink-like internet device, along with weapons such as sniper rifles, pistols, and grenades, from Imphal East district by security forces in Manipur, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and owner of Starlink, has responded to the incident, by rejecting the claims associated with the devices.
Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, confirmed that Starlink satellite beams were disabled over India in response to allegations that its devices were being used in the troubled region of Manipur. The announcement followed a recent raid in Imphal East district, where security forces seized internet devices, including a satellite antenna, router, and cables, along with arms and ammunition. The Indian Army's Spear Corps also shared photos of the seized items on X.

On December 13, a joint operation by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police led to the recovery of a Starlink-like internet device in Imphal East. The Spear Corps shared photos of the items on X, including a satellite antenna, router, and cables. The discovery raised concerns as Starlink is not licensed to operate in India. Authorities are investigating how the device ended up in the conflict-ridden state.
