An Indian expat in Dubai has captured the internet’s attention with his heartfelt visit to the newly inaugurated BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi. Just three weeks after relocating to the UAE, the expat, identified on Instagram as @akashkawale10, shared a video documenting his journey from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, culminating in his emotional experience of witnessing a Ganga Aarti in the desert nation.
In his caption, he wrote, “I Witnessed Ganga Aarti in UAE”, expressing awe at the atmosphere inside the temple premises. The video traces his road trip, the temple’s majestic exterior, and the moving aarti ceremony performed by devotees near a water body.
Spiritual Vibes In Foreign Land
The expat described the experience as surreal, noting that the temple’s peaceful surroundings reminded him of India. “This was completely an unexpected experience for me,” he said, calling the aarti super positive and uplifting. Though photography inside the sanctum was prohibited, he managed to film the temple’s glowing architecture and devotees outside.

After attending the aarti and performing darshan, he enjoyed dinner at the mandir premises and spent more time exploring the intricately carved structure. For him, the evening was not just about spirituality but also about feeling at home despite being miles away from India.

While some netizens admired the expat’s effort to showcase the temple and the aarti, others humorously pointed out how quickly the internet can shift from devotion to desperation.

The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi is the first traditional Hindu temple in the UAE’s capital. It was inaugurated on February 14, 2025, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Built on a 27-acre site near the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway, the temple is a marvel of craftsmanship, featuring intricate carvings and an atmosphere of peace. The UAE government generously donated the land for the project, highlighting the nation’s commitment to cultural harmony and religious inclusivity.
