Hassan Nasrallah Death Cause: The death of Hassan Nasrallah, chief of Lebanon-based Hezbollah, ignited many questions with no apparent clarity on the manner of his demise. However, in a recent report, an Israeli media outlet claimed that Nasrallah died after toxic fumes leaked into his secret underground chamber after Israel bombed the structure with over 80 tons of explosives on September 27. According to Channel 12, an Israeli TV network, Nasrallah suffocated helplessly in the bunker, an assertion in line with Hezbollah reports claiming no external injuries on his body.
Hassan Nasrallah was killed in a massive Israeli airstrike last week, when IAF fighter jets dropped bunker-busting bombs on a residential building underneath which the Hezbollah headquarter was located in central Beirut's Dahieh area.
How Did Nasrallah Die
The Hezbollah first responders found Nasrallah's body in the chamber with no visible injury marks on it and initially, it was asserted that he died of blunt force trauma caused by the bombs. However, an Israeli report suggested that Nasrallah might have died of asphyxiation caused by the toxic gases which leaked into the chamber buried under the rubble.
Nasrallah was attending a meeting with the senior leadership, including top militia commanders of the Iran-backed group, when Israeli fighter jets hit the complex. Later, it was learnt that an Iranian mole leaked his secret location to Israel which led to his killing.
Israel Launches Ground Invasion
While Hezbollah vowed to avenge the death of Nasrallah, Israel initiated a ground invasion in southern Lebanon in a bid to secure the northern border of the country. Meanwhile, Yoav Gallant, the Israeli defence minister said that the US has agreed to a limited Israeli incursion into Lebanon to dismantle the attack infrastructure of Hezbollah.
"Spoke overnight with U.S. @SecDef about developments in the northern arena and the measures required to ensure the safe return of Israel's northern communities to their homes. We agreed on the importance of dismantling attack infrastructure along the northern border to prevent attacks by Hezbollah against Israeli citizens," Gallant said on X.
