India is set to receive its first consignment of Iranian crude oil this week. According to commodity analytics firm Kpler, the ship Ping Shun, carrying 600,000 barrels of crude oil from Kharg Island, has left for Gujarat's Vadinar port. It is expected to reach India by April 4 after a month-long journey. India is set to receive this oil after the US granted a 30-day exemption for the cargo of Iranian crude oil at sea.
"India-Iran oil trade has revived after the US government allowed Iranian oil to be delivered to the market for 30 days due to the regional conflict," said Sumit Ritolia, head of research analyst at Kpler, as quoted by PTI.
Delivery From Iran For First Time After 2019
"This is the first such delivery since May 2019 and is a critical time for Indian refineries, as they are facing inventory shortages," he added. The tanker is estimated to have loaded crude oil around March 4 and is expected to arrive in Vadinar on April 4. However, it is unclear which refiner received the crude oil.
Kpler said the Aframax Ping Shun, which loaded crude oil from Kharg Island in early March, emerged as the first vessel to indicate a destination for India since May 2019. Kharg Island, located 25 kilometres off Iran's coast, accounts for 90 per cent of Iran's oil exports and is a target of the US military.

Trump On Iran War
US President Donald Trump said the United States could end its military attacks on Iran within two to three weeks, and Tehran did not have to make a deal as a prerequisite for the conflict to wind down. The remarks underscored the shifting and at times contradictory statements from Washington about how the war, now in its fifth week, might end.
Iran War May End In 2-3 Weeks: Trump
"We'll be leaving very soon," Trump told reporters at the White House on Tuesday, saying the exit could take place "within two weeks, maybe two weeks, maybe three."
No Deal With Iran: Trump
Asked if successful diplomacy with Iran was a prerequisite for the US to conclude what it has dubbed "Operation Epic Fury", Trump said it was not. "Iran doesn't have to make a deal, no," he said. "No, they don't have to make a deal with me."
