A man from Karnataka's Udupi was murdered with his body chopped into multiple pieces in Sharjah in July. The horrific murder was discovered when his body was found cut into nine parts and concealed inside two bags in a parked car.
The man has been identified as Alwin Prakash Kunder. His wife Tina Kunder and son have been missing since the crime, as per some media reports. The man had been employed in Sharjah for the past 14 years, NDTV quoted his brother Anil Prashanth Kunder as saying.
Anil approached the Superintendent of Police in Udupi on Monday and requested that the authorities take action over the death of his brother. The police have not yet issued an official statement and are reportedly waiting for formal communication from authorities in Sharjah.
According to Anil, he last tried to contact his brother on July 20. Although Alwin did not answer the call, Anil received a text message stating that everything was fine. Anil said his brother had never communicated with him in that way before.
He then called up Manohar, a former classmate of Alwin who was living in Sharjah, and asked him to check. Manohar went to the accommodation provided by Alwin's employer. However, the building's security guard told him that Alwin had already travelled to India.
Anil said the company’s human resources department initially gave them the same information. The following day, however, Anil contacted the company again and informed officials that his brother had not travelled back to India. He asked them to verify the information through their records.
The company then checked Alwin's passport details and discovered that he was still in Sharjah. Following this, a missing report was registered.
As the investigation progressed, Alwin's body was reportedly discovered inside a vehicle parked on a road leading towards Oman. The body had been dismembered into nine pieces and placed inside two bags, reported NDTV.

The post-mortem report was received by the family only on Monday, following which they approached the police in Udupi, as per Anil.

Anil said the nature of the crime suggested that the accused may have had experience handling such acts.
He also claimed to have viewed CCTV footage that showed two men and a woman leaving the building. Anil raised questions about the whereabouts of Alwin's wife and son, saying that if his wife had travelled to India, she could potentially have information about what happened.
