A distressing video has emerged, shedding light on the perilous journey undertaken by a group of Indian migrants as they travel through the jungles of Panama in an attempt to reach the United States. The footage, shared by the family of a man named Akash from Karnal, shows a group of illegal immigrants enduring harsh conditions in dense forests. The migrants, including women and children, are seen navigating water bodies and setting up camp in the thick jungle, highlighting the dire situation they face while making their way toward the US.

The video, reported by India Today, features Akash and other migrants who were promised safe passage to the US via Mexico. However, according to Akash’s family, the migrants were deceived by their agents and forced to take the most dangerous and longest route known as the “donkey route”. This route requires crossing through multiple countries, including Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and finally Mexico, all while facing extreme weather, treacherous terrain, and a lack of resources.

Indian Migrants Endure Harsh Conditions In Panama's Jungle

In the footage, the migrants can be seen camping in the jungle, sitting in mud, and wearing rubber boots to protect themselves from the elements. The video also shows area fully engulfed by garbage. Some women are holding infants in their laps as they set up makeshift tents, while others don raincoats to shield themselves from a heavy downpour. The harsh reality of their journey is evident in every frame, as they struggle to survive in one of the world’s most unforgiving environments.

According to Akash’s family, after enduring the perilous journey, Akash was detained by US authorities upon reaching the border. They claim that he was coerced into signing deportation papers, with the threat of jail time if he refused. His family believes that many other migrants have faced similar situations, with some alleging that their travel agents abandoned them midway through the journey, leaving them stranded in foreign countries with no means of support.
