In a concerning case that has gripped the Indian-American community, four Indian-origin elderly people have disappeared during a road trip from Buffalo, NY, to Pittsburgh, PA. The family, named Asha Divan, Kishore Divan, Shailesh Divan, and Gita Divan, was last reported to be seen on Tuesday, July 29, at about 2:45 PM at a Burger King along Peach Street in Erie, PA.

The surveillance camera video from the restaurant chain captures two members of the group walking into the restaurant. This footage, along with credit card records, marks the last verified activity by the family before they disappeared. The group was traveling in a light green Toyota Camry with New York plates (EKW2611). Pennsylvania State Troopers’ License Plate Reader also captured the vehicle heading south on Interstate 79, suggesting they were continuing their journey to Prabhupada’s Palace of Gold in Moundsville, West Virginia — a popular religious retreat where they had prepaid for accommodations.

Even though they had been booked, the group failed to show up at the retreat, detectives said. The cell phone tower data indicate their cell phones pinging momentarily around 3:00 AM on Wednesday, July 30, close to Moundsville and Wheeling, West Virginia. All calls to their lines since then have gone unanswered.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office, along with Buffalo law enforcement, is investigating. The officials have put out CCTV stills, images of the missing persons, and their vehicle in a public appeal. "We have some leads that are being pursued actively, but the group has not been found so far," said Sheriff Kevin Cecil Dougherty, exhorting people with tips to contact local authorities at once.

The incident has raised concerns among the Indian diaspora in the US, with social media and local communities posting updates and calls to assist in finding the missing family. Officials are asking anyone who may have seen the Toyota Camry or encountered the group in Erie, Pittsburgh, or Moundsville between July 29 and July 30 to come forward.
