Indian-origin fugitive Nicholas Singh, once featured among Canada’s Top 25 Most Wanted, has been arrested in Toronto after months on the run. Singh, 24, had been “unlawfully at large” since May 31, 2024, after breaching parole conditions linked to a previous conviction for robbery and firearm-related crimes. His arrest comes as a major win for law enforcement, particularly the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad, which had issued a Canada-wide warrant for him.
How Nicholas Singh Was Caught
Toronto Police arrested Singh on Friday night near Bathurst and Dundas streets after spotting him inside a suspicious vehicle. Officers approached and took him into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a firearm, an extended magazine, and ammunition, adding to the seriousness of the charges he now faces.
Police later confirmed that the ROPE squad had been closely monitoring Singh’s movements. A timely community tip helped officers locate the suspect vehicle, ultimately leading to his arrest.
Why Was Nicholas Singh On Most Wanted List?
Singh was ranked No. 15 on the BOLO Program’s Top 25 Most Wanted list, a widely publicised campaign designed to help police track down high-risk fugitives across Canada. Authorities had offered national visibility to his case as he was considered dangerous and likely to reoffend.
The BOLO list currently features two other Indian-origin fugitives as well:
Gurkirat Singh (26) – wanted by Delta Police over a 2024 sexual assault case.
Dharam Singh Dhaliwal – wanted in the 2022 murder of Indian-origin woman Pawanpreet Kaur, who was shot multiple times at her workplace.
Singh’s placement on this list highlights the severity of his criminal history and the urgency of locating him.
Fresh Charges Against Nicholas Singh
Following his arrest, Nicholas Singh now faces a fresh set of six firearm-related charges, including:
Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without licence or registration
Possession of a firearm knowing no lawful authority
Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm
Possession of a loaded regulated firearm
Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
Possession of a prohibited device (extended magazine)
Singh had originally been serving a five-year, five-month, 10-day sentence for robbery and firearm offences before breaching parole in 2024.
