After a sudden attack on Iran by Israel with the United States on Saturday afternoon, resulting in escalated tensions in middle east, several airlines and airports have issued passenger advisories as Israel has shut its airspace following the attack.

As per the Air India spokesperson, flight AI139 operating from Delhi to Tel Aviv on February 28 was forced to turn back mid-journey due to the closure of Israeli airspace. “AI139 operating from Delhi to Tel Aviv on 28 February is returning to India due to the closure of airspace in Israel and in the interest of the safety of passengers and crew. Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers due to this unforeseen situation and remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety. We will continue to assess the safety and security environment for our flight operations and adjust operations proactively as needed,” the spokesperson said.

Iran has also closed its airspace following a sudden missile attack by Israel and the US. The countries have attacked Tehran under “Operation Lion’s roar”. As per Flightradar, a website that tracks flight operations, a NOTAM (A Notice To Airmen) was issued following the attack.

IndiGo Issues Travel Advisory

IndiGo said that it was closely monitoring the situation, stating that any necessary adjustments will be implemented if the situation evolves.

 

Meanwhile, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the operational authority of Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, also warned its customers against the heightening situation and urged passengers to be ready for potential disruptions.

“Due to the evolving political situation in the Middle East region, westbound international flights may experience disruptions or schedule adjustments. Passengers are strongly advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest flight updates before leaving for the airport. For flight updates, you may refer to our website. Your patience and cooperation are sincerely appreciated. Please rely only on official channels for verified updates on the situation,” DIAL said on X.

Air India has suspended all flights destined for Middle Eastern countries, in view of the deteriorating situation between Israel and Iran. The airline assured that it remains committed to the safety and security of its passengers and persistently assesses the situation and adjust the operations as per the requirements. It further added that a team has been extending support to passengers.
