Iran War 2026: Amid the ongoing war between Iran and the joint forces of Israel and the US, a security breach was reportedly detected at an army base in Washington. As per The Washington Post report, the officials detected unidentified drones above Fort McNair base, where US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth reside. The unidentified drones' detection has led to the security concerns, and the officials are reportedly considering relocating Rubio and Hegseth.
A senior administrative official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, asserted that the potential threat was being closely monitored by the military, reported the Post. The officials said that multiple drones were detected over the sensitive zone on a single night in the last 10 days amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. While the military has not determined where the drones came from, it led to a high-level meeting at the White House to discuss how to respond.

The senior officials stated that the incident has prompted the military to consider relocating Rubio and Hegseth; however, the top secretaries have not moved yet, the Post confirmed, citing officials. The conflict with Iran, which began on February 28 with the killing of its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has led to heightened security at the domestic bases due to a potential threat.
As per the reports, New Jersey's Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and MacDill Air Force Base in Florida raised their protection level. The bases raised the security level to Charlie, ensuring the commander has intelligence linked to any possible attack.
Is Iran Plotting Assassination?
While there has been no confirmation of any links between the detected drones and Iran, the US military is set to increase the security levels to counter any possible threat. The war in the Middle East has entered its third week, with no signs of immediate peace in the region.
