Iran is working to unite its regional proxy network for a coordinated, multi-front attack on Israel similar to the October 7 assault, according to a Jerusalem Post report citing Israeli intelligence assessments.

Tehran is planning to merge its own forces with Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas, the Houthis in Yemen, and pro-Iranian militias in Iraq and Syria into a single campaign.

Closing The Coordination Gaps Exposed On October 7

Though the October 7 attack was launched without the other fronts joining in, documents seized from the Gaza Strip revealed that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar envisioned a broader regional war involving Hezbollah and Iran.

Sinwar assumed the initial attack would force Iran and Hezbollah to join a full-scale campaign against Israel. However, US and Israeli intelligence assessments stated that neither Iran nor Hezbollah was informed of the details in advance. This lack of prior synchronisation led to a fragmented response, with Hezbollah carrying out limited strikes along the northern border rather than launching a simultaneous, full-scale offensive.

Now, Israeli intelligence indicates the "Axis of Resistance" is actively working to fix those coordination gaps. Instead of relying on a localised strike to draw in other groups, Tehran is organising a synchronised blueprint. The strategy aims to ensure that Hezbollah, the Houthis, and pro-Iranian militias in Iraq initiate coordinated campaigns from day one, formalising the multi-front pressure Sinwar originally envisioned.

Renewed Coordination And Joint Operational Planning

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have identified renewed coordination between Hamas and Hezbollah, facilitated by Iran, to intensify pressure on Israel from the north and south.

Senior officials from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), specifically the Quds Force, have held a series of discussions, including direct meetings and conference calls, with commanders from Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iraqi militias to organise a broader campaign.

In addition to high-level discussions, Tehran is also working to restore military capabilities damaged in earlier conflicts involving the US and Israel. Intelligence reports also indicate closer operational and personal ties across the network, marked by joint training exercises and increased coordination between the components of the axis.
