A shocking claim circulating on social media triggered panic and confusion on Tuesday after an Afghanistan-based news outlet alleged that former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had been killed inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. The rumour escalated when a tweet from an account claiming to represent the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Balochistan, amplified the allegation, stating that Khan had been “killed by Army Chief Asim Munir and the ISI administration.”
The viral tweet further claimed that several media houses had reported Khan's alleged death, calling it “the end of terrorist Pakistan” and predicting an institutional collapse if the news were confirmed. However, no credible authority in Pakistan or abroad has verified these claims, and the information remains unsubstantiated.
Rumours Trigger Panic And Online Frenzy
The rumour spread rapidly across X, with thousands of posts speculating about Khan’s condition. His supporters, political commentators, and international observers flooded social media with demands for clarity. ABP and other major news platforms have not independently confirmed any report of Khan’s death.

Khan’s Sisters Demand Meeting Amid Assault Allegations
The controversy intensified after Imran Khan’s sisters, Noreen Khan, Aleema Khan, and Uzma Khan, released a letter accusing Punjab police personnel of violently assaulting them outside Adiala Jail. They said they were peacefully protesting to seek an update on their brother’s deteriorating health and had not been allowed to meet him for more than three weeks.
According to the sisters, the police suddenly switched off all streetlights, plunging the area into darkness before launching what they described as a “brutal and orchestrated assault.”

“We neither blocked roads nor engaged in any unlawful activity,” they wrote. “Yet, without warning, we were dragged, beaten, and attacked despite our age and peaceful behaviour.” Noreen added that at 71, she was “seized by the hair, thrown to the ground, and dragged across the road,” sustaining visible injuries.
PTI Demands Investigation
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) condemned the alleged violence and accused authorities of placing an undeclared ban on meetings with the former prime minister for more than a month. The party claimed police “pounced” on Khan’s sisters and supporters, calling the violence “state terrorism.”
PTI has demanded an impartial inquiry into the police action, while Pakistani authorities have yet to issue an explanation or respond to the global rumours surrounding Khan’s safety. For now, the viral claim of Imran Khan’s death remains unverified.
