Israel-Gaza Ceasefire Deal: Israel has approved a US proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the Jewish holiday of Passover, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed on Sunday.

The Israeli government agreed to temporarily extend the truce as a bridging measure after the initial 42-day ceasefire phase came to an end. The proposal, introduced by US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, aims to maintain peace during these religious periods, AFP reported.

However, Hamas has rejected extending the current truce and insists on moving forward with the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

What the Second Phase Includes

The next stage of the ceasefire deal would involve the release of all remaining hostages and efforts toward a more lasting peace in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty urged both Israel and Hamas to fully comply with the ceasefire agreement. He emphasized the importance of honoring commitments to prevent further violence.

Arab Nations to Discuss Gaza’s Future

Egypt is set to host a meeting of Arab foreign ministers on Monday, followed by a major summit the next day. The discussions will focus on rebuilding Gaza and addressing concerns over US President Donald Trump’s reported plan to relocate Palestinians and redevelop Gaza into a tourism hub, often referred to as the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Israel Halts Supplies to Gaza

On Sunday, Israel suspended the entry of goods and supplies into Gaza in response to renewed violence, AFP reported. "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided that, starting this morning, all supply shipments into Gaza will be halted," the Israeli PMO said in a statement.

The statement also warned that if Hamas continues to reject the truce extension, Israel will take further action.
