At least seven people were wounded across Israel after a fresh barrage of missiles was launched from Iran on Sunday, according to emergency services. Magen David Adom reported that the victims included a 62-year-old woman with moderate smoke inhalation, three with minor injuries, and three suffering anxiety attacks. Four injuries occurred in southern Israel, while two were reported in the north, as reported by The Jerusalem Post.

Missiles rained down on Jerusalem and other cities as sirens echoed across the country, marking the first daylight alert since the beginning of the open hostilities between Israel and Iran. Loud booms and flashes lit up the evening sky, signalling an intensification of the conflict now in its third consecutive day.

Israel Launches Retaliatory Strikes On Iran

In response, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) initiated a new wave of airstrikes targeting surface-to-surface missile launch sites in western Iran. “The Air Force has begun a wave of strikes against dozens of targets,” said an IDF spokesperson, emphasising a strong counteroffensive.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israeli forces had successfully destroyed Iran’s main uranium enrichment facility at Natanz. Speaking to Fox News, he said, “We've destroyed the main facility in Natanz. That's the main enrichment facility.”

Iranian Intelligence Chief Reportedly Killed

In a major escalation, Netanyahu claimed that Iran’s top intelligence official, Mohammad Kazemi, and his deputy were killed in an Israeli airstrike over Tehran. “Our brave pilots are over the skies of Tehran, targeting military and nuclear sites,” he said, describing the operation as a critical blow to Iran’s security apparatus.

With missiles lighting up skies above both nations and air raid sirens continuing, fears of a broader regional war are mounting. Netanyahu added that Israeli strikes on Natanz and Isfahan had set back Tehran’s nuclear program significantly, reiterating, “We cannot allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons as it intends to provide them to the Houthis and others.”
