India has expressed deep concern over escalating unrest in the Middle East with a fervid exchange of missiles between Iran and Israel. Besides, the Ministry of External Affairs has advised Indian citizens to avoid unnecessary travel to Iran.

“We are closely monitoring the recent escalation in the security situation in the region. Indian nationals are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran. Those currently residing in Iran are requested to remain vigilant and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran,” MEA said in a press release.

Recent developments in Lebanon, Syria and Iran have raised concerns of a wider conflict in the region. Indian Foreign Ministry has stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to dissolve contention in the strife-hit region. “It is crucial that all issues be addressed through peaceful means, it added.
