Bangladesh minister video: A video showing a Bangladesh minister carrying a pistol while raiding a suspected drug den in Dhaka has gone viral on social media. State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain carried out the raid on Saturday with several associates dressed in plain clothes. The group detained six people and later handed them over to the police.

Video Shows Minister Carrying Pistol During Raid

Hossain shared a video of the raid on X. In the footage, he is seen stepping out of a vehicle with a megaphone in one hand and a pistol in the other. He then chases a group of people. At least one of his associates is also seen carrying a handgun. During the raid, Hossain is heard addressing people in the area and saying, “You are ruining the entire town, destroying the entire area."

Some of the men detained by his associates claimed they were innocent. Hossain is then heard telling them, “Let police come, then there will be talks." While the video has gone viral, the minister’s actions have raised questions. This is because police said they were not informed about the raid in advance.

According to police officials, they learned about the incident only after it had taken place. Masud Rana, additional deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told reporters, “The minister did not inform us about the raid in advance; we learned about it afterwards,” said.

Moniruzzaman Monir, officer in charge of Gandaria police station, also said police went to the location after receiving information that the minister's associates had detained people suspected of drug abuse. “They detained six people and claimed they were drug abusers, so we went and brought them in," he said.

Netizens React

Meanwhile, the video has sparked debate on social media, with several users questioning whether a minister should personally take part in such a raid while carrying a pistol. While the pistol was blurred in much of the footage, Hossain was clearly seen carrying it in some parts of the video.

A user wrote, “Under which provision of the law is Ishraq permitted to carry a pistol in public? The country’s police and legal system exist to address such unlawful and criminal activities-no politician can ever be above the law!” Another user added, “You are a cartoon, and you should be arrested. You are not mentally stable enough to hold office as a member of parliament. And to think I once voted for you."
