US President Donald Trump has again asserted that he single-handedly averted an all-out nuclear war between India and Pakistan by threatening to cut all trade relations with both countries amid increased military tensions. Talking to journalists at the White House on Friday, Trump stated, "We did some fantastic work. India and Pakistan, which would have been maybe nuclear. We did that." He asserted that he instructed top officials to halt all trade agreements with New Delhi and Islamabad when both countries were "in the midst of a huge fight."
Trump informed the media that he advised both nuclear-power neighbours, "No trade with US, if India, Pakistan use nuclear weapons at each other." He said his stern warning made both of them to pull back. Trump asserted that he instructed Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to "cancel all deals with India and Pakistan" until the conflict de-escalated. "In a few short months, we have achieved peace between India and Pakistan, Israel and Iran, and DRC and Rwanda, and a couple of others also. If you take a look at Pakistan and India... we have two great leaders and they were able to stop. They were midst of a big fight. I guess everybody saw that it was going to get very bad. They are nuclear nations, very powerful nuclear nations. In the months and years ahead, my administration will continue to work closely with all of the parties..." Trump added.

Peace Deal Signed Between Congo and Rwanda
Trump also highlighted a US-facilitated peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda to bring an end to decades of killing in eastern Congo. The agreement was inked at the US State Department before a portrait of then-former Secretary of State Colin Powell. “Today, the violence and destruction come to an end, and the entire region begins a new chapter of hope and opportunity, harmony, prosperity, and peace,” Trump said while speaking to the foreign ministers of both nations at the White House. Secretary of State Marco Rubio referred to the peace agreement as "an important moment after 30 years of war."

The deal is set to assist US businesses in accessing crucial critical minerals from the mineral-hub region as Washington ramps up its international rivalry with China for rare earth materials critical for technology and military industries. Yet certain militant groups have already stated that the deal does not concern them.
