Shoaib Akhtar's Brother's Funeral: The funeral of former star Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar's brother, Shahid Akhtar, came under the spotlight after several Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were spotted at the ceremony in Islamabad. As per a video shared by the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), several close associates of Hafiz Saeed, LeT founder and mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, were present at the site. Akhtar's brother passed away earlier on June 24 reportedly due to cardiac arrest.
Pahalgam Attack's Mastermind Spotted
Saifullah Kasuri, Lashkar-e-Taiba's deputy chief and the conspirator of the tragic 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, was also present at the funeral, reported India Today. Along with Kasuri, several other prominent terrorists were also spotted at the site, leading to questions on Pakistan's claim of controlling terrorism. Ironically, the terrorists shared the space with some of the top leaders of PMML, a party considered a political proxy of LeT.
Islamabad is often considered a safe space for the terrorists and has been involved in the terror activities in the foreign nations, especially India. On numerous occasions, New Delhi has pointed out the freedom and facilities that the Pakistani government and army have provided to the terror organizations.
India Destroyed Terror Sites In Pak
Earlier last year, India launched Operation Sindoor to destroy the terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) following the Pahalgam attack in which 26 tourists were killed in Kashmir's Pahalgam district. The Indian Air Force (IAF) destroyed multiple terror sites and also killed several prominent terrorists, in a major setback to Hafiz Saeed.
In a post, while confirming the death of his brother, Shoaib Akhtar stated that Shahid Akhtar had "returned to Allah". "I'm very saddened to share that my beloved older brother, Shahid Akhtar, has returned to Allah Subhana wa Taala. Namaz-e-Janaza time & place will be informed in the morning," the retired pacer wrote in his post.
