Pakistani rapper Talha Anjum has sparked a cross-border social-media storm after a viral video showed him waving the Indian tricolour during a live performance in Nepal. The 30-year-old artist, one half of the acclaimed Urdu rap duo Young Stunners, was seen not only waving the flag but also draping it over his shoulders while continuing to perform onstage.

The incident took place while Anjum was performing his diss track “Kaun Talha”, aimed at Indian rapper Naezy from the Gully Gang circuit. In the middle of the performance, an audience member threw an Indian national flag toward the stage. Without breaking his rap flow, Anjum caught the flag, raised it high, and later wrapped it around himself.

The clip, now widely shared across platforms, has generated mixed reactions. While some applauded the rapper for his display of cross-border love, others, particularly from Pakistan, criticised him for showing respect to what they called an “opposing nation’s” symbol.

Talha Anjum Responds: “My Art Has No Borders”

Responding to the viral uproar, Anjum issued a strong and clear defence on social media.

He wrote, “My heart has no place for hate. My art has no borders. If raising an Indian flag sparks controversy, so be it. I’ll do it again. I will never care about media, governments, or their propaganda. Urdu rap is and will always be borderless.”

His unapologetic stance has resonated widely online, with many praising him for promoting artistic freedom and rejecting political hostility.

Who Is Talha Anjum?

Born in Karachi, Talha Anjum rose to fame after forming the groundbreaking Urdu rap duo Young Stunners with TalhahYunus in 2012. The duo broke into the mainstream with the hit track Burger-e-Karachi and has since produced several chart-topping songs, cementing their legacy in South Asian hip-hop.

Anjum expanded into acting as well, starring in the 2024 film Kattar Karachi, alongside Kinza Hashmi and Imran Ashraf. With more than 3 million Instagram followers, Anjum remains one of Pakistan’s most influential cultural figures, though, like many Pakistani artists, his profile remains inaccessible in India.
