In a shocking incident, the Jaffar Express derailed on Tuesday following a series of blasts targeted at the railway track at Jacobabad in Pakistan's Sindh province, as local media reported. The blast occurred near the Bolan Pump area under the jurisdiction of the Sadar Police Station, causing at least six coaches of the passenger train to derail. The train had been running from Peshawar to Quetta. The explosion created a 3-foot-wide crater on the rail track and destroyed about 6 feet of the rail track, local media reported after the incident. So far, no casualties have been reported, although some passengers were injured following the derailment.

Rescue personnel, police, and railway authorities swiftly arrived at the scene and launched relief and repair operations. According to preliminary police reports, unidentified individuals planted an explosive device on the track, which detonated just as the train passed over the section near Jacobabad. The powerful blast caused a major disruption, derailing six compartments of the moving train.

No group or person has so far taken responsibility for the attack. The region has been sealed and an investigation into the accident has been initiated by the authorities. Security on the Jacobabad–Quetta railway section has been beefed up, and bomb disposal teams are investigating the site of the explosion. Within moments of the occurrence, derailed train videos started making the rounds on social media. The clips show visibly panicked passengers rushing out of the damaged carriages and local authorities working at the scene. The footage has raised concerns over rail safety in Pakistan.
