Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday voiced deep concern over Israeli air strikes in Doha, calling them a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty. In a telephone conversation with Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Modi reiterated India’s support for regional peace, dialogue, and diplomacy, while stressing that India opposes terrorism in all forms.

The conversation came a day after Israel launched air raids in Doha under an operation codenamed “Summit of Fire.” The strikes reportedly targeted senior Hamas leaders. Witnesses described heavy explosions and plumes of smoke rising over the Katara district, a residential area in the Qatari capital.

Qatari authorities denounced the strikes as a “cowardly assault” on civilian structures, warning that the attacks risked escalating tensions in the already volatile region.

On Tuesday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had also issued a statement voicing “deep concerns” about the impact of the raids. “We strongly urge restraint and diplomacy, so that peace and security in the region is not endangered,” the MEA said.
